If the velocity of the tag is excessive it is possible that it could pass through the antenna's read zone undetected. Well designed systems allow for a couple of repeat readings during transit through the detection zone.
Calculate the number of detections in the zone by multiplying the zone length times the scans per second and divide by the tag velocity. Some examples:
